The First Three High-end Medical Projects of China-Europe Belt and Road Industry Fund located in Guangzhou

The first three high-end medical projects of China-Europe Belt and Road Industry Fund is to be located in Guangzhou Huangpu District, Guangzhou Development District on September 5th 2017. The three projects are Guangzhou Hospital Clinic de Barcelona International Hospital, the Medical School of University of Barcelona – Guangzhou Medical University joint education program, and Pantheon Medical Center. Local residents will benefit from the high-end medical services of international standards in the future.

On the same day, Guangzhou Huangpu District Government and Guangzhou Development District Administrative Committee signed strategic cooperation framework agreement with Guangzhou Medical University, the 5th Hospital Affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University, Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, the Medical School of University of Barcelona, Silver Mountain Capital Limited, and Guangzhou Silver Mountain Global Star Equity Investment Fund Management Company in Guangzhou. According to the agreement, the parties will cooperate to establish Guangzhou Hospital Clinic de Barcelona International Hospital, an international specialty hospital, and also establish one or two high-end international medical centers – Pantheon Medical Center. Guangzhou Hospital Clinic de Barcelona International Hospital and Pantheon Medical Center will be operated and managed by world class healthcare professions and directly connects with overseas commercial insurance companies.

As introduced by Dr. Jose M. Campistol, president of Barcelona Hospital of Spain, this project has been approved by the Spanish Government, and obtained attention and support from the Spanish government. In the future, the collaboration between the international hospital and the 5th Hospital affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University will promote knowledge sharing, exchange programs, and fellow visit from both countries, as well as improving the medical and the technical skill.

Wang Xinhua, president of Guangzhou Medical University said Guangzhou Medical University is now making a positive progress to become a highly academic and world class university. It will take this opportunity to collaborate with the Medical School of Barcelona University and local government and to jointly establish a training program to student. As a result, students from both countries can share and learn from each other not only in school but also in the hospitals between Guangzhou and Barcelona. Such collaboration not only provides training to talents, but also combined with teaching, promote clinical practice and R&D, makes further contributions to training of medical talents in Guangzhou.
