Cooperation between Silver Mountain Group and St. John’s Innovation Centre, University of Cambridge

The Administrative Committee of Guangzhou Development District (“GDD”), St. John’s Innovation Centre (established and wholly owned by St John’s College, University of Cambridge), CFCC Cambridge, Silver Mountain Group (“SMG”) and ET Capital signed a strategic cooperation agreement on Feb 2nd, 2018 and will cooperate to invest, construct, operate and manage a project in GDD with the “China Cambridge Innovation Park “.

GDD is the first batch of pilot areas for China-EU, China-Israel cooperation. GDD is dedicated to further deepening the economic exchange and cooperation between China and Europe, to introducing internationally advanced education, technology, management model, management experience and service experience.

University of Cambridge (“University”) is the world leading university. It comprises 31 autonomous colleges and 150 departments, faculties and institutions, has 19,000 student body, including 3,700 international students from 120 countries. The University promotes the interface between academia and business, and enjoys a global reputation for innovation. Many company start-ups, set against the backdrop of the University, directly and indirectly leverage the thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem of the University, especially in respect of science, technology, people, money and resources like laboratories and books from the University, and combine them with the experience and business acumen of entrepreneurs, grow into some of the world’s most important science and technology companies.

St John’s Innovation Centre was established primarily to provide a dynamic and supportive environment for accelerating the growth of ambitious, innovative firms in the Cambridge technology cluster. It mainly involves in making full use of the leading role of Cambridge hi-tech-oriented and knowledge-oriented start-ups in respect of technological innovation decision-making, research and development investment, scientific research organizing as well as achievement transformation and commercialization. 

CFCC Cambridge is a company dedicated to promoting the cooperation and communication between China enterprises, institutions, and those departments, schools, enterprises associated with the University, especially in the research, development of high technology.

SMG was founded in Hong Kong in 2013 by a European family to capture opportunities in China. Since the establishment, SMG has been focusing on building a health care ecosystem integrating medical service, medical research and medical education. SMG got closed-loop development by project incubation, investment and operation with rich healthcare investment experience and strong project management competency, as well as trusted partnership with enterprises, institutions, agencies and universities home and abroad. Thanks to this strong global network and the international elite team, SMG could keep competitive and take the lead in the industry.

ET Capital is a Cambridge fund management and investment company, which has supported the growth of many Cambridge companies.

This cooperation will establish and operate the China Cambridge Innovation Park. It is intended to be set up in GDD, to function as an “incubator”, “accelerator” and the industrialization park for high-technology projects. It will be built as an international (especially a China-Europe, China-USA & China-Israeli) platform and base for the cooperation, communication, innovation, incubation, industrialization, and market entry by international high/new technology and finance enterprises. It is therefore intended to promote the development of innovative enterprises in the park, to promote the overall innovative atmosphere, and strengthen the cooperation, commercial exploitation and establishment of international technology innovation from around the world. The cooperation is committed to establishing a Cambridge Science Park-level industrial platform for undertaking the Cambridge Science Park project to land in China.
